Nurturing the Culture at Deecon Consulting

As the HR representative at Deecon, I’ve had the privilege of being an integral part of our incredible growth, helping our team expand from 17 employees to almost 40 in less than a year. As we embarked on this growth trajectory, there was a concern that our unique culture would change. However, the business has remained dedicated to maintaining and investing in the environment and community that makes Deecon special. This growth has been guided by our Deecon DNA, a set of core values; Collaboration, Integrity, Transparency, Excellence, Quality, and being Dynamic - that ensures we remain true to our values while delivering exceptional results.

Our Deecon DNA, along with our commitment to our clients, sustainability, employee engagement and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) has been the foundation to our success. This was recognised in July by our inclusion in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work in 2024.

EDI: Celebrating Our Diverse Workforce

At Deecon, we take immense pride in our diverse team, which includes individuals from across the world. Our workforce speaks over 10 languages! Our commitment to EDI is reflected in our practices, including:

  • Balanced Representation: We have a balanced representation of female/male employees throughout the business.

  • Cultural Appreciation: We celebrate our employees’ backgrounds and encourage respect among team members through activities such as cultural picnics.

Engagement: Empowering Our Team

Employee engagement is key to our success. We believe that an engaged workforce is a productive workforce. To ensure our employees feel valued and motivated, we have focused on:

  • Open Communication: We prioritise transparency and encourage feedback through regular surveys and check-ins, allowing employees to voice their thoughts and ideas.

  • Social Events: Various social events are regularly organised, including awareness days, sports activities, and team outings. These events promote camaraderie and strengthen connections among colleagues.

  • Growth Opportunities: Our commitment to professional development includes mentorship initiatives and learning sessions that empower our employees to reach their full potential

  • Employee Value Proposition (EVP): "Embracing Wellbeing, Rewarding Loyalty", providing wellness programs as well as rewards for long-term dedication through benefits such as Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and additional leave.

Sustainability: Initiatives that Make a Difference

Sustainability remains a key focus as we grow, and some initiatives we have implemented over the last year that have a positive impact on our environment are:

  • Work Anniversary Tree Planting Programme: To offset our carbon footprint, we actively contribute to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing air quality through our tree planting efforts.

  • Office Recycling: We have established recycling programs in our offices to minimise waste.

  • Sourcing Sustainably: We prioritise sourcing fruit, coffee, and cosmetics from sustainable suppliers.

  • Bike to Work Scheme: We have a bike-to-work scheme, promoting a healthier lifestyle while reducing our carbon footprint.

Client Focus: Building Lasting Relationships

Our clients are at the core of our operations, and we understand that maintaining strong relationships is crucial for sustained growth. Our client-centric approach includes:

  • Tailored Solutions: We take the time to understand our clients’ unique needs, providing personalised services that exceed their expectations.

  • Continuous Feedback: We actively seek client input to refine our offerings, ensuring we remain responsive to their evolving needs.

Our Commitment to a Thriving Culture

As we have grown and continue to grow, our commitment to nurturing a strong organisational culture remains unwavering. Through our sustainability efforts, dedication to EDI, focus on employee engagement, and commitment to our clients, we are creating a thriving environment for our team and those we serve.

We are excited about the future and our additional plans for growth. We remain dedicated to preserving the culture that has brought us this far. Together, we can continue to make a positive impact in our communities and the world at large. Thank you for being part of our journey!
